INSTRUCTIONS |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| 1. For the 2
1/4" pot form, tear or cut a piece of newspaper to about 9" x
11", then fold the paper lengthwise to 4 1/2" x
11". |
2. Align
the folded edge of the paper to the etched mark. |
3. Roll the paper onto the cylinder but
not too tightly. Tape the joint to hold it while you
continue. |
4. Tuck the overlapping paper up into the tube. |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| 5. You should now have something like this. |
6. Turn
the cylinder with the paper down onto your work
surface and insert
the compression cylinder. |
7. Slide the compression cylinder down. |
8.
Smush down on the compression tube to flatten the bottom . |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| 9. Your pot is complete. If you have a lot
of
pots to make, you might want to make the
other pots before filling them. |
10. Loosely
fill the tube with soil. If you have a bag of premixed
soil, moisten soil right in the bag then scoop from
the bag
with the pot form. |
11. Insert
the compression cylinder and press the loose soil down into the pot. |
12. Add
about a tablespoon of water if the mix is dry. You may need to make minor adjustments to the
amount of soil and water. |
|
 |
 |
Pre-moistened
soil works best. After
you have filled the pot with soil and compressed it well, twist
the paper pot on the form to make sure it is loose. Pressure on
the
compression cylinder as you raise the pot cylinder form keeps the soil
compacted and pushes the soil to the edges of the
pot. Wipe the outside of the pot-form if it is wet. |
Hints for larger 3" pots:
When using the 3" pot-form cylinder to make the larger pots, as you
begin to compress the soil, slip the 2 1/4" pot form over the
compression cylinder to have a broader surface area for compressing the
seed-starting mix or potting soil. Don't wrap the paper
around
the pot-form too tightly or it will be difficult to remove the pot-form
cylinder. |
| 13. Press down hard on the cylinder, to help
remove the air
pockets from the seed starting mix. |
14.
Continue to push down on the compression cylinder while you twist and
raise the pot form. A PERFECT POT filled and ready
to use. |
